Train With Purpose. Develop Skill That Holds Up Anywhere.
Every student arrives at Practice with a different starting point. Different backgrounds, different goals, different levels of athletic experience. But the moment you step onto the mats, we all begin at the same place: the pursuit of mastery through Practice.

A System Built Around Levels 1, 2 & 3
We teach through a layered progression. Each level builds the skill, composure, and decision-making necessary to advance with confidence.
Fundamentals
Build the Foundation
Learn the language of jiu jitsu. Essential movements, defensive responsibility, and a clear sense of direction.
Level 2Intermediate
Expand Your Game
Build systems, not just techniques. Leg locks, passing layers, guard combinations, and strategic thinking.
Level 3Advanced
Invite Only
High-intensity training for those who've earned it. Competition prep and advanced positional battles.
Fundamentals (Beginner)
Build the Foundation. Learn the Language of Jiu Jitsu.
Most martial arts start on the feet. Jiu jitsu is unique because we begin where fights realistically end up: on the ground, often from disadvantage. This is why our Level 1 program starts by teaching the beginner how to move, survive, and problem-solve from unfamiliar positions.
Essential Movement Patterns
- Shrimp / reverse shrimp
- Bridging
- Hip elevation (triangles)
- Sit-outs
- Technical stand-ups
- Leg pummeling
- Breakfalls
- Sprawls
- Rolling patterns
- Standing stance & motion
Core Skills Developed
- Defensive responsibility — Knowing how to remain safe before you try to escape or attack
- Positional escapes — Side control, mount, back control, half guard, turtle & front headlock, north-south
- Guard retention — Long-range frames, layers of retention, knee–elbow connection, sticky hooks, inside position
- Sense of direction — Understanding where you are, where you need to go, and why
Level 1 Structure
Level 1 is divided into Level 1A and Level 1B:
- • Build the movement patterns
- • Learn core positions
- • Understand defensive responsibility
- • Earn your first two stripes
- • Add speed, combinations & simple chains
- • Develop better retention and escapes
- • Prepare for Level 2 sparring & positional rounds
Intermediate Development
Expand Your Game. Build Systems, Not Just Techniques.
Once the foundation is in place, training changes. Your warm-up becomes drilling. Your movements gain intention. Your understanding deepens. Level 2 is where students begin to develop systems, expand their technical arsenal, and train with more structure and intensity. This is where people start to feel like practitioners, not participants.
What You'll Learn
- Introduction to leg locks (gi & no-gi)
- Cross-ashi, saddles & early entanglement awareness
- Rear-mount systems
- Passing layers & pressure concepts
- Guard combinations & transitions
- Chains linking escapes → sweeps → passes → finishes
Training Structure
Level 2 classes are 75 minutes and include:
- Technique blocks (3–4 per class)
- Positional sparring (multiple scenarios)
- Submission-specific rounds (e.g., juji, ashi, back control)
- One full open round at the end
More resistance. More decision-making. More ownership.
Advanced / Competition
High-Intensity Training for Those Who Want More
Level 3 is selectively offered and reserved for students who've shown technical consistency, strong work ethic, composure under pressure, and commitment to frequent training. This is where advanced positional battles, high-level systems, and competition-focused training scenarios are developed.
Requirements
- Technical consistency
- Strong work ethic
- Composure under pressure
- Commitment to frequent training
Not everyone needs Level 3. But for those who want it, the doors are open—and the standard is high.
A Coaching Philosophy That Works in the Real World
Practice is not a hobbyist curriculum disguised as "fundamentals." It is a structured pathway built around principles that produce results.
Clear Progression
Every class builds toward something. You always know where you are and what comes next.
Daily Emphasis on Core Skills
Fundamentals are reinforced constantly, not just in beginner classes.
Concept-Driven Understanding
We teach the why, not just the how. Principles over memorized sequences.
Resistance-Based Learning
Techniques are tested against real resistance. If it doesn't work live, we don't teach it.
Long-Term Athletic Development
We build skills that compound over years, not tricks that plateau in months.
Accountability and Support
We push you to grow while ensuring you're never left behind.
We don't skip steps. We don't build bad habits. And we don't let students get lost in the noise. Every class has a purpose. Every position connects to a broader system. Every round is an opportunity to learn.
